Chilika Lake - Odisha Eco Tourism

The largest brackish salt water lagoon in India is a wintering ground for a large no. of migratory birds and is a home to a number of threatened species of plants and animals. The lake offers large fishery resources and sustains the livelihood of fisher- folks. Chilika lake offers rich-biodiversity and being important from socio- economic perspective it was designated as the first Indian wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention as it offers rich bio-diversity.

Connectivity: Nearest airport is at Bhubaneswar (95kms), nearest railway station for Barkul is located at Balugaon at a distance of 5 km from Chilka and offer regular trains to major cities of the country.
