Debrigarh Nature Camp

The camp is settled on the bank of Hirakud Dam and reservoir is well known for Debrigarh wildlife sanctuary. The Hirakud reservoir is spread over an area of 743 sq km and is the massive man-made reservoir. It is easier to get sight of wild-life due to wide variety and number of inhabitants in the sancturary. Leopard, Bison, Chital, Sambar, Elephant, Wild boar, Procupine, Chousingha are some of the wild creatures that can be spotted in the sanctuary during trekking by food or by vehicle. The rich wild-life, the natural landscape, majestic waterfalls, rich flora associated with the area attracts eco –tourist to the place. The sanctuary provide a safe ground to about 40 species of mammals, 41 species of reptiles, 42 species of fishes, 39 species of odonates, 234 species of birds and about 85 species of colorful butterflies. The sanctuary is also of international importance as it houses a noteworthy population of Chousingha, Leopard and Bison.

How to reach: Sambalpur is at a distance of 289 kms from Bhubaneswar, 274 kms from Cuttack, 51 kms Jharsuguda. From Sambalpur one can reach the campsite by road. Nearest railway station is Sambalpur with frequent train from major destinations like Bhubaneswar (279 kms), Cuttack (275 kms). Closest airport is at Bhubaneswar.
