Sambalpur Odisha - Odisha Eco Tourism

The Sambalpur, Odisha famous for handloom textile work is among the largest and oldest cities in the state. The economy of the district is largely dependent on agriculture and forest. The place is globally known for textile bounded patterns and fabrics called Baandha. The place derived its name from its presiding deity Sambaleswari enshrined in Samalai Gudi Temple on bank of river Mahanadi. Some of the prominent attractions in Sambalpur are Hirakud Dam, Ushakothi Wildlife Sanctuary, Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary, leaning temple of Odisha at Huma.

How to reach: Sambalpur is 229kms away from Bhubaneswar airport. The railway station at Sambalpur offers regular trains to other major cities. The place is well connected with other cities by two bus stands i.e. a govt. and a private bus stand.
